1 May 2017 is celebrated as Sri Ramanuja Jayanthi, the birth anniversary of Ramanujacharya, the founder of Sri Vaishnava philosophy. Sri Ramanujacharya was born in 1017 CE at Sriperumpudur in Tamil Nadu, India.
Sri Ramanuja expounded the Visishtadvaita philosophy. He is worshipped as an incarnation of Sri Adi Seshan in Kali Yuga. His one thousandth (1000th) birth anniversary is currently being celebrated throughout the world by His followers.
